Burundi radio stations

Radio Umwizero

This radio was created in 1996 on a European initiative. This free and independent radio has for main objective the national reconciliation after the tough period of ethnic war in Burundi and Rwanda.
Indeed this bloody war was partly due to the media which favoured hate between both Hutus and Tutsis ethnicities.
It is mostly a musical radio made for the young people since 60% of the population is aged fewer than 35.
Nonetheless it is also an information radio that broadcasts peace messages.
